SAFHR PROGRAM DETAILS

Find all the detailed information about the SAFHR for Homeowners, Renters, and Landlords programs here.

The State Assistance for Housing Relief (SAFHR) programs provide rent and utility assistance, or mortgage reinstatement services, for eligible Missouri residents who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

SAFHR for RENTERS and LANDLORDS

Eligible tenants can apply for financial assistance to be paid directly to their landlord or utility provider.  Landlords may also apply on behalf of their tenants.  Financial assistance includes rent and utility arrears for the period beginning April 2020, as well as forward rent (up to 3 months per application), up to a maximum of 18 months total assistance.  Utilities include gas, electric, water, sewage/waste water, fuel (propane, wood, etc.) and trash.  You may apply for utility assistance even if you are not applying for rental assistance.

The Application Process

The SAFHR for Renters and SAFHR for Landlords programs follow a similar application process.  With SAFHR for Renters, the tenant completes the application, and with SAFHR for Landlords, the landlord completes the application on behalf of the tenant.  In both cases, funds are paid directly to the landlord and/or utility providers.
